I am a Featured
Artist in the
"Poetry Revealed"
exhibit
at Columbia
City Gallery
July16 through
September 14, 2008
This
series of acrylic paintings integrates words and images, using
imbedded word forms to create the texture-bed upon which the
paint is applied. The inscribed words are poetry, both my own
and others’, often poems of gratitude for life.
Over the
word-shapes are layers of paint, mostly hiding the poems
themselves. They are not meant to be read. Instead, they provide
a feeling tone for me as I paint and a compelling texture in the
paintings.
I’ll have new works up during
the following show, too, which runs September 17 – November 9.
The opening reception for that exhibit is September 20th
, 5-8 pm.
